About Me

I have been birding since 1987 but only started taking the hobby very seriously in 2011 after moving from Wales to Devon in 2007. Birding Wales could be very hard but enjoyable however since moving to Devon I have more than doubled my life List.

I do the old twitching thing, work permitting, but generally only in the south west and mainly if it’s for a lifer. I am inguizative and like to question. I am also not afraid of challenging an ID.

I try to get out birding as much as I can but work demands and a busy family life mean I’m generally restricted to quick before and after works outings. I do get the odd full day out though.

I also have a keen interest in Butterflies, Dragonflies and have dabbled in Moths. To be fair I love all wildlife and enjoy anything unusual I come across

For more information on the main local sites I cover plus other sites I like to visit. Please see the following pages on this blog.
As the UK moved to the IOC taxonomy in January 2018, please be mindful that I refer to this taxonomy naming format on this blog.
